Why Choose CJV Traveling Teams?
Overview
The CJV Traveling Teams will provide an opportunity
for girls ages 12 - 18 from all around the 704 & 803 area codes to try
out for competitive traveling volleyball teams.
Traveling Teams are for the higher level volleyball player and will
practice 2-3 times each week and compete in 7-10 tournaments on weekends
outside the Charlotte area and possibly outside of North Carolina.
Dates
Season:
November – May (Some teams may play until June)
Registration
Deadline: October 27, 2009
*Girls not registering for the Travel
Team by the posted deadlines may be put on a waiting list or not be able
to participate in the first day of tryouts. It is very important to
register by the deadline to allow the CJV Club to review the numbers and
ages of girls to prepare for tryouts.

One 14 Year Old Team

Ages based on USAV Playing Age (see tryouts below for age definitions).
Players should try out for
their age group. Coaches may move players and combine age groups as
needed.
There will be 10 players per
team.
There may be more or less teams than listed above based on the number
and level of girls at tryouts. The CJV program philosophy is to only
form a Travel Team at a specific age group if we feel that team will be
one of the most dominant in the region. Otherwise, we feel the team and
girls will benefit more by participating in the CJV Non-Travel Program.
Coaches
Each of the Traveling
Teams will have 1 Head Coach and 1 Assistant Coach.
Coaching assignments may change based on the number and level of girls
at tryouts and the total number of teams formed.

18 Traveling - Zoe Bell
17 Traveling - Rick Kiser and Ashli Raindl
16 Traveling - Chuck Rey and Sara Christie
15 Traveling - Carrie Christian and Tom Christian
14 Traveling - Cori Bray
***Based on our registrations we plan to have an additional 16s
team or a combination 15/16s team coached by Brian
Rosen and Emily Carrara.

Tryouts
Location: Sports Connection on Granite Street
(No club may force
you to commit to their program until the Carolina Region "signing date",
November 16th (for the 15-18s teams). If they offer you a spot on a team they have to
hold it for you until this date. You may voluntarily commit prior to
this.)
14's - October 24th from 2:00-4:00PM
15's – November 10 and 12, 2009 from 7:00 - 9:00 PM
16’s – November 9th from 7-9 PM and November 12th from 5:00 - 7:00 PM
17 & 18’s – November 9 and 10, 2009 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM
All players should try
out at the correct time based on their USAV Playing Age. Coaches will
move players as they feel necessary.
USAV playing age definitions:
- 18 and under division:
Players who were born on or after September 1st, 1991 or Players who were born on or after September 1, 1990 and a high school student during some part of the current academic year.
17 and under division:
Players who were born on or after Sept. 1st, 1992
16 and under division:
Players who were born on or after Sept. 1st, 1993
15 and under division:
Players who were born on or after Sept. 1st, 1994
14 and under division:
Players who were born on or after Sept. 1st, 1995
Cuts may be made after each day of tryouts. Players and Parents maybe contacted before teams are posted. Teams will be posted on or before November 16, 2009.
When selected for a Traveling Team you will have 24 hours to pay 1/3 of your team fee or we will remove you from the team. To withdraw from being selected for a Traveling Team submit your request IN WRITING prior to the end of the second tryout.
Practices
Teams will practice 2-3
times per week.
All practices will be at the
Sports Connection facility on Granite Street.
Practices could be any day of the week or weekend from 4:00 - 10:00 PM
weekdays and 8:00 AM - 10:00 PM weekends.

All teams will
play in USAV tournaments in the Carolina Region, and a minimum of
10 tournaments total throughout the season.
Tournaments will be a
decided on by the coach. The schedules will be available on this
website before tryouts and the estimated team fee will be
available at tryouts, if not before.
Each team will have the option to try and qualify for the USAV National
Championships. The cost to enter the USAV National Championships and
the coaches expenses are already budgeted for in the CJV Traveling Fee.
If teams and coaches choose not to attend Nationals, or if the team
fails to qualify for Nationals, a refund will be issued at the end of
the season to each girl.
(This season most teams are not attempting to Qualify for Nationals
because they are in Reno, NV. Most teams will attend the AAU/JVA
Nationals in Orlando, FL instead.)

In addition to the services we have offered in the past, your Traveling
Team fee will include fee for the Gold Medal Squared Clinic we will host
(Jan 23-24, 2010). We are excited to have our club consultant, Coach Ron

Playing Time
Playing time in tournaments is
totally at the coaches discretion.
Cost
The
Traveling Team fee is determined by how many and which tournaments your
coach chooses for the team to attend. Total fees range from $1,595 - $2,495
per girl, with 1/3 of the team fee due within 24 hours of when teams are
posted, as well as the Sports Connection Players Card fee of $25.

Fee Includes: Tryouts, Gold Medal Squared Clinic, Practices, Uniforms, Coaches Salaries and
Expenses for Practices and All Tournaments, Equipment (Volleyballs,
Courts, Nets, Practice Equipment, etc.), Overhead (Administration,
Websites, Insurance, Credit Cards, Accounting, Staff), etc.

In addition to the services we have offered in the past, your Traveling
Team fee will include fee for the Gold Medal Squared Clinic we will host

Additional Costs Include: USAV Membership ($35-40/player),
Sports Connection Players Card fee or $25 (annual), Individual Player's Travel Expenses, Possible Extra Tournaments and
Other Optional Team Expenses. Some teams may choose to do fundraisers
during the season.
