Why Summer Tryouts?2022-12-20T21:22:35+00:00

Historically tryouts for our CJV Travel Teams have been in the Fall AFTER most middle school and high schools have finished their volleyball seasons. We have decided to have our Travel Team tryouts the end of July/early August, BEFORE most schools begin their volleyball seasons. This allows player to enter their school seasons with an idea of what their next season holds, as opposed to being stressed about club tryouts during their playoff season. It also allows our admin team to complete rosters, payments, and other important tasks before the season begins, which means players/parents have more time to complete them as well!

Why does CJV hold closed tryouts?2022-11-16T11:28:00+00:00

Carolina Juniors understands that tryouts can be a stressful time for athletes. To encourage each player to do their best, we hold closed tryouts. This means that tryouts are closed to all spectators until the time of pick up. We feel by taking away the added stress of being watched by spectators, participants tend to perform better and have more fun on the court.

Why Choose CJV & What To expect2022-12-20T21:26:12+00:00

Here at Carolina Juniors, we strive to train athletes to become great volleyball players while building relationships and self confidence. Our countless top tournament finishes, coach accreditations and accolades, and numerous positive experiences all justify our club as being one of the top volleyball clubs in the SouthEast region. We also will continue to use the Hudl software to further assist our coaches in managing their teams, as well as the latest recruiting platform SportsRecruits for select teams. At the start of each season, we also bring in Gold Medal Squared to host a team camp. Primary vs Secondary Location2022-11-16T11:22:45+00:00

When registering your player for tryouts, parents can choose a primary location and a secondary location to indicate which location they are most interested in practicing at. Parents have the option to choose a primary location only, and not include a secondary location. This indication helps our coaches make decisions when offering a player. For example, if two Semi National teams are interested in a player, they will refer to your location preference to decide which team will offer your player. If a National team and a Semi National team are interested in your player, your player will receive the National offer. Players will receive the highest offer if there are multiple coaches interested.

Player Fees & Tournament Schedules2023-04-17T13:44:43+00:00

Please access our Player Fees and Tournament Schedules document to view the tentative tournament schedules and player fees when it becomes available. Each year we have players who decide they do not want to play after we post the teams. This is unfortunate, because other players have been cut from those rosters and are understandably upset. Travel Level Teams are required to pay a $35 Tryout Fee and then will have 48 hours to pay a portion of your team fee and after teams are posted or we will remove you from the team. To withdraw from being selected for a Team submit your request IN WRITING prior to the end of the second tryout. The exact fee schedule will be sent via email a few days before tryouts.

Over the past 25+ years, many volleyball clubs have come and gone, but CJV is the only Volleyball Club in the area that has had the same owners, directors, facilities, philosophy, etc since day one. We welcome the opportunity to show you how CJV is second to none when you compare us to any other club anywhere.

Can I play up in a higher age group?2022-11-16T11:25:36+00:00

Players are asked to tryout/play for their appropriate age/grade group. Coaches may then consider moving a player to an older age group based on positional needs of the team. Players are only moved if it is in the best interest of the player, team and club. It is rare that a player is allowed to play outside of her age group.

Can I play on a Team with my friend(s)?2022-11-16T11:29:57+00:00

Player requests to play with friends will be allowed when possible, but may not be possible in all cases. Local Level Teams will be divided equally and probably practice and play at the same time per age group.

We will continue to make every attempt to refund all players as much of their player fee as possible if the season is shortened or cancelled. Some expenses from tournaments, travel fees and other expenses may not be refundable if they are not returned to the CJV Club. All accounting, refunds or credits will be processed at the end of the CJV Club season, which is the end of July.

Can I get a refund if I am injured or decide to quit during the season?2023-02-27T19:32:22+00:00

The CJV club hopes everyone has an enjoyable and injury free season. In the event a player is injured and is unable to continue the season, or chooses to quit the team for understandable reasons, every effort will be made to find a replacement player. The player may be given a partial refund only if a new player is added to the team roster. (Not if a player is moved from another team.) Players quitting, because they are unhappy with their playing time or other personal reasons, are still responsible for their full remaining balances.

Am I guaranteed equal playing time at every tournament, practice, and league game?2022-11-16T11:24:24+00:00

The focus of the CJV program is individual and team improvement through practice and training. Each player will receive equal training in practices, but playing time at tournaments may not be equal. The coach for each team will determine playing time based on ability, attitude, attendance, effort and many other factors. CJV policy is that playing time on Travel Teams will be totally at the coach’s discretion. Playing time on the younger and more developmental teams will be equal. Playing time on the more competitive teams may not be equal in all league games.
