CJV Travel Teams
CJV offers different levels of TRAVEL programs for experienced and college bound players. The goal of the CJV TRAVEL team program is to allow all athletes to practice, compete, and train with other players of the same or similar skill levels and with the best coaches in the area! CJV South will house Mizuno, National, Select, and State level teams. CJV North will house National, Select, and State teams. All teams will practice at their home location for the duration of the season.

Mizuno Team Tryout Information
NEW FOR 2027!
In an effort to run an efficient and fair tryout, CJV will be holding a separate tryout for athletes who are seriously interested in joining one of our MIZUNO teams! This tryout will be held Friday, July 24 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. 15U and 16U athletes will tryout at Granite St. 17U and ALL 18U athletes will tryout at Northlake.
The purpose of this tryout is to allow athletes to choose which team they are interested in being considered for, and to better support coaches in evaluating all interested athletes. It also allows our Mizuno coaches to evaluate top candidates more closely as registrations will be monitored. Serious candidates only please. We will be holding our National/Select/State team tryouts on Saturday, July 25 and Sunday, July 26 as usual. Please review the FAQs below for additional details on this process, as well as updates in our club for the 2027 season.
This tryout is for athletes who:
– have participated in National Qualifiers in the Open or USA divisions
– have participated on a Mizuno/Open or National level team
– are interested in training with the area’s top coaches and competing at a high level at CJV
FAQs:
Q: Will my athlete receive an offer during the Mizuno tryout?
A: If coaches believe your athlete is a good fit for the Mizuno team, YES!
Q: What happens if my athlete attends the Mizuno tryout, but does not receive an offer?
A: If an athlete attends the Mizuno tryout on Friday, July 24 but does not receive an offer that evening, they are eligible for and encouraged to attend the National/Select team tryouts on Saturday, July 25 and Sunday, July 26. Athletes without an offer will automatically be registered for the National/Select team tryouts once they register for the Mizuno tryout, meaning no additional fee is required.
Q: Will tryouts be at one location this season?
A: No, we will be holding tryouts at both the North and the South locations. We will have a National, Select, and State team at each location, so tryouts will be held at each team’s home location. Tryouts for all North teams will be held at the Northlake location. Tryouts for all South teams will be held at the Granite St location. Times listed on our website.
Q: If my athlete does not receive an offer for the Mizuno team, can they be considered for both a North AND a South National/Select/State team?
A: No, athletes will choose a primary during registration for this reason. If you choose “North” as your primary location, the athlete’s registration will be moved to the North National/Select/State team tryout. If you choose “South” as your primary location, the athlete’s registration will be moved to the South National/Select/State team tryout. This means the athlete should attend tryouts at that location to be considered for one of our teams. Tryouts will be held at the team’s home locations for 2027.
Q: What if my athlete has not competed at the Open or USA level?
A: This tryout is for the highest level athletes in the area with Mizuno/Open or National team playing history. Please register for the National/Select team tryouts if you do not have this experience! Athletes who have not competed at the Open or USA levels may be manually moved to the National/Select/State team tryouts on Saturday, July 25 and Sunday, July 26. Athletes will be pre-screened at the pre-tryout clinics as well.
Q: Can my athlete receive a Mizuno team offer if they don’t attend the Mizuno team tryout?
A: If the athlete does not receive an offer on Friday evening, it is possible they could receive an offer on Saturday or Sunday following. This would occur if another offer was declined. If the athlete cannot attend the Mizuno tryout due to a scheduling conflict but has played at the Mizuno/Open or National level previously, please email Office@CarolinaJuniors.com.

Mizuno Teams
12U – 18U
The Mizuno Teams are for the highest level player. Tryouts are required and only the best players at each age group will be selected. Most tournaments will require travel outside of Charlotte and the state. There is only one Mizuno team per age group. The season will start in December and end in June.
National Teams
13U – 18U
The National Teams are for the very high level player. Tryouts are required and only the best players at each age group will be selected. Most tournaments will require travel outside of Charlotte and the state. There is one National team per age group per location. The season will start in December and end in June.
Select Teams
11U – 16U
The Select Teams are for the competitive level player. Tryouts are required and only the best players at each age group will be selected. Most tournaments will require travel outside of Charlotte and the state. There is one Select team per age group per location. The season will start in December and end in April or May. State Teams
11-16U
The State Teams are for the advanced regional level player. Tryouts are required and only the best players at each age group will be selected. Most tournaments will require travel with North Carolina and South Carolina. There will be one to two State teams per age group per location. The season will start in December and end in March/April.
