National Team Program

Overview

CJV National teams provide an opportunity for girls ages 12 – 18 to try out for the most competitive volleyball teams in the Carolinas. National teams are made up of the best volleyball players within Charlotte and the surrounding areas. National teams will practice 2-4 times each week, including a positional practice and compete in 9 or more tournaments on weekends within the surrounding states.

National teams will practice and play in tournaments from December – June. Teams qualifying USAV & AAU Nationals may choose to play into July. Tryouts for National Teams are July 20-21, 2024, with registration opening in April. Tryouts for the 11-14u teams will be announced soon.

Mission Statement

The Travel Team Programs at Carolina Juniors Volleyball are designed to offer an opportunity for volleyball players in the greater Charlotte area to reach their full potential and to prepare for the next level of play. CJV provides a program of intensive skill and strategic volleyball training in a safe, positive environment. The experience will teach the values of teamwork, discipline, responsibility, motivation, and self-esteem.

Seasons

National teams will practice and play in tournaments from December – June. Teams qualifying USAV & AAU Nationals may choose to play into July. Tryouts for National Teams are July 20-21, 2024 for the 15-18u age group. Tryouts for the 11-14u age group will be announced soon. 

Teams & Locations

CJV’s goal for our National Level Teams are to have one team at each age group for each location. These National teams will be made up of the best players from all over Charlotte and the surrounding cities. Teams could practice at the CJV Volleyball Centers in South Charlotte (Sports Connection-Granite Street) and in North Charlotte (Sports Connection-Northlake), but most National teams will practice primarily at their home locations.

Playing Age

The CJV playing ages are based on the USAV established playing ages. Players should try out for their age group. Coaches may move players and combine age groups as needed. The goal is 10-12 players per team.

Tryouts & Registration

Tryouts for our 15-18u group will be held July 20-21, 2024. Information for the 11-14u group will be announced soon. Registration will open April 1.

Tryout Ages, Dates, Times

Tryouts take place at our Northlake location. The actual tryout times will be posted for the upcoming season a few months before tryouts. If your child is younger than the dates listed below, or your are having trouble registering, please email our office at [email protected].

Pre-Tryout Clinics – Travel Team Players

Pre-Tryout clinics are an opportunity for players to get in the gym and get to know our coaches, and how we train. These dates and times will be posted in late Spring.

*NOTE: The coaching assignment listed above are for North (White) and South (Navy) locations.

Invitation To Play

After tryouts are completed, all players making a team will be notified and have an option to accept the invitation to play with CJV. When selected for a team you will have 48 hours to pay 1/4 of your team fee. To withdraw from being selected for a Travel Team, please submit your request IN WRITING prior to the end of the second tryout.

Practices

National teams will practice 2-4 times per week, including a positional practice. National teams may practice at the Sports Connection-Granite Street AND the Sports Connection-Northlake CJV Volleyball Centers based on the coach’s discretion. Practice days and times will be communicated to the players by the coach.

Tournaments

A Tournament Schedule will be posted on the Team’s page when available. All National teams will play in at least 9 tournaments throughout the season. Tournaments will be decided on by the coach with input from the CJV club. The tentative schedules will be available at tryouts along with the estimated team fee. Each team will have the option to try and qualify for the National Championships. The cost to enter the National Championships and the coaches expenses are already budgeted for in the CJV Fee. If teams and coaches choose not to attend Nationals, or if the team fails to qualify for Nationals, a refund will be issued at the end of the season to each girl if the team budget does not exceed the amount spent.

Playing Time

Playing time in tournaments is totally at the coaches’ discretion at the National team level.

College Recruitment and Player Training

Carolina Juniors has a long success record of graduating our youth athletes to the collegiate volleyball level. We have an in-house recruitment coordinator and we also utilize SportsRecruits for our online recruiting platform. For more information on college recruiting, check out our Player Resources tab.

CJV is associated with the training program called Gold Medal Squared. Coaches and CJV Staff are trained on Gold Medal Squared techniques and skill development through various coach development sessions as well as through our Master Coach Practice Module enforced throughout the season. Cost

The National team fee is determined by how many and which tournaments your coach chooses for the team to attend. Total fees range from $3295 – $4095 per girl, with a non-refundable deposit due within 48 hours of when teams are posted. This amount will be communicated prior to tryouts.

Any player with a credit balance on their account can apply the credit toward their team fee to reduce the total amount owed for the new season. Players choosing the payment plan option will be setup on an automatic credit card or bank draft for the remaining three payments due (dates TBA). There is no additional charge for the payment plan option or to use a credit card like many other clubs charge.

The National team fee Includes: Tournament Entry Fees, Practices, Coaches Salaries and Expenses for Practices and All Tournaments, Equipment (Volleyballs, Courts, Nets, Practice Equipment, etc.), Overhead (Administration, Websites, Insurance, Credit Cards, Accounting, Staff), etc.

Additional costs may include: Uniforms*, USAV and/or AAU Membership ($45-55/player), Individual Player’s Travel Expenses, Possible Extra Tournaments and Other Optional Team Expenses. Some teams may choose to do fundraisers during the season.

*All uniforms this season will be decided on and ordered at the team meetings. A representative will be present at the team meeting with a run of uniform sizes for players to view. Additional apparel and equipment can be ordered by players and parents on the new CJV Online Team Store.
